I think it's the disk clean-up utility because makes the same sound & runs
for about the same amount of time.

What makes you think it's the disk cleanup utility?
If the hard drive is very audible, and wasn't before, it may just be
coincidence that you "installed a camera" prior. If you are hearing
more than normal "I/O chatter" on bootup, or when you plug
the camera in, then it very well could be software related. What
happens if you uninstall it?
