Default Reinstallation problems

I wouldn't recommend a 'reinstallation' except a very last resort. However,
it is possible (when the PC actually runs properly - and from your report
"Cannot find SYSTEM.INI. etc" - it sounds like it doesn't) to create an
Emergency Boot Disk (or Startup Disk) using an in-built utility in Control
Panel.

In the meantime, you should try :-
http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm
and select the "WindowsMe OEM" version.

Don't just copy the download to a floppy disk, you need download the
bootme.exe file to a 'working' computer (any computer, with an A:drive) and
then Run it to actually create the Startup (floppy) disk.

Ok, I just got a new computer from a friend and I didn't want all of his
junk
on my computer, so I put the reinstallation disk in. I get the following
message:
"Cannot find SYSTEM.INI.
Boot with Emergency Boot Disk and type SCANREG /RESTORE"
Obviously, I don't have an emergency boot disk. Any help for me????
