I missed the part about the 1 gig of RAM & Windows 98 - that's the
problem.

Here's a link to the Microsoft Knowledge Base article which addresses
that
problem in Windows 98:

The final paragraph illustrates the problem you were experiencing. The
article also has a workaround.

That MSKB article has this link in it to the solution.

Thanks for the input. After reading the page you referenced, I'm pretty
sure
that memory greater than 512 Meg is my problem. I'll try their proposed
solution to see it that works, and let you know. Incidentally, the URL
you
referenced as the link to the solution is only for Win 3.11 and Win 95,
but
the use of System Config should work on Win 98.

The second link does not directly reference Windows 98, but that link is
included in the body of the article in first link I posted, and that MSKB
article pertains to all the Windows 98 OSs.

I set the limit of Vcache in System.ini to 512 Meg, reinstalled the ABIT
drivers for my card, and, voila', it booted right up. Now I can start
reinstalling the apps I need and get some work done :-) Many thanks for
your
help.

You're welcome Steve, and thanks for posting back to let us know that you
got the problem solved.
