This the door is not open

should have been the door is *now* open

(and that's why it's so cold in here; someone shut the door please)

But seriously, 'nix distros have improved tremendously and what with MS
making it so hard and difficult to license, run, and maintain a desktop
at home, the door is not open to their ultimate demise as the
predominant home/home office OS.

Right now there's some kid in their parents' basement/garage who hasn't
bathed in days working on this ... smell it ?

Hopefully the address is correct, Alias.
If I am not mistaken, a couple of weeks ago you asked for my
notification
in this case and here it is:
My CD from "Ubuntu" has arrived and earlier as they projected, but
as you
already had suggested.
Will have to decide the best way to install it on my machine with an
80BG
HD, partitioned into C,D,E and F, with C=20, D=15, E=15 and F=30
GB's. E&F
are completely free right now.
Maybe you or someone else here has a profitable idea.
The CD with "Linux" OS on it was mailed to me for free all the way from
Africa and to everyone's information here, I would like to mention the
meaning of the word "Ubuntu", it is: "Humanity To Others". In
addition I am
free to edit, copy or distribute the CD as I would wish. What an
enormous
generosity.
Thanks for pointing me to it, Alias.

Harry.

Set your BIOS to boot from the CD. Insert the Ubuntu CD before you
leave the BIOS. You can then take a live tour without installing it
and see how you like it. It will also check out your PC for
compatibility. I would recommend installing it on second hard drive
because, that way, if one drive goes, you still have the other and
don't lose both OSes simultaneously.
