Default 3 split monitor screen

To further summarise :-

1) Original (Dell) monitor works ok on another (Compaq) pc
2) Another (Compaq) monitor works ok on original (Dell) pc
3) Original (Dell) monitor AND original (Dell) pc, the '3 split screens'
appear *even in Safe Mode*.

.... do you think it has something to do with the Bios ??

Under normal circumstances, I would have said no - but this one has got me
completely baffled. No idea!!

I would still be very interested to see a screen shot (photo)

You are right, it should read as "MPU401 is diabled.
Game port is diabled'
This report is using the monitor and Compaq

Let's just stick to one pc at time g

Yes, I am certain that I am in SM as the word "SM" are at the four corners
of
the screen. As the monitor is at my friends place, I am not certain
whether
they are at all the 4 corners of each split screen (making a total of 12
'SM') or just 4 'SM' of the monitor.
So in 'SM' the screen is also not 'normal' in appearance.

At the moment, I am unable to take a picture of the split screen but will
do
when I get the chance.

How all very peculiar.
To summarise.

Using the monitor on another PC it works without problem so the monitor is
OK (today's post) - Yes, except I get he MPU401 message stated earlier)

Using another monitor with the PC shows no problem so it isn't the PC
(post on 10 August) -Yes thats correct.

.... do you think it has something to do with the Bios ?? thanks for your
time.

Updating the drivers doesn't help.

The reference you make to MUP401 sounds as if the drivers fro your sound
card might need reinstalling as MPU401 relates I think to the midi
interface. MPU (rather then MUP) stands for Midi Processing Unit and is
a
feature of Roland and SoundBlaster sound cards.

Got the opportunity and connect the monitor into my friend's old
Compaq and it works beautifully, without any necessary adjustment
etc. I noticed that upon boot (normal) up, it stated that MUP401
(something like that) not loaded whatever that means. So I guess this
old monitor works only its its kind, old pc........or is there any
other factpr that could affect the split screen..... thanks
