Hello (yet) again,
I've tried them all: updates, uninstalls, registry searches, fresh installs,
etc.,... you name it. The CD-R/W disks still cannot be reformatted, and
occasionally the previous ones cannot be added to or subtracted from. I did
get the Nero 5.5.10.56 and it worked fine as far as CD-R's are concerned. I
believe InCD 3.5.24.0 is the last of version 3 and that's what "used" to
work well for me. I tried version 4 of InCD and that brought on a whole new
set of problems, so I removed it completely and went back to struggling with
3.5.24.0. It's got to be something really simple that I'm missing, like a
registry key entry or something similar. I'm NOT a quitter, but I've got to
give it a rest. I don't want to burden anyone else with this problem. I was
hoping someone out there had "been there, done that" and had a good idea
from first hand experience. When I get this solved, hopefully with a little
more help, I'll tell the world! Actually, I did find one or two others who
had the exact same problem using Google. There were no answers for them
either. So, I'm number three! My last resort, and it may not be so bad or
expensive, is to dump this Pine (...Mitsumi?) 24x10x40 burner and replace it
with some "brand" name. But who knows, Nero may still refuse to work! Oh,
the HUMANITY! ;-)

This is advisable as it has become a significantly more stable product
over
the years. Obviously you're not using Nero 6, but with luck you are using
Nero 5.5. If so you can update for free to Nero551056, but anyway look

More importantly perhaps though is that you can update for free to the

InCD, much more than Nero, has benefitted from continual development. If

OK, I'm stumped, really stumped. I've managed to pull out of a lot of
Windows ME "nose dives", but this one is different. Here's what I've

6) Updated both Nero and InCD to the last version updates I once had

using successfully - Didn't work, same error.
7) Put in a previously formatted CD-RW and it is recognized, but I can
neither add to it nor delete from it.
8) Big whoop, I can still record CD-R's. At least Nero seems to be
working
as before. It's just that InCD is acting up.
Any help/suggestions would again be much appreciated, even if to say
"trash
that Pine drive and get something with a "brand name""! Would switching
over
to Roxio have it's share of glitches? I'm just puzzled as to what
happened
to cause all this and that I cannot seem to undo it. Somehow, I must
have
shot myself in the foot! Ouch!

I had this with one particular - good but aging - CDRW disc (and
InCD).
Whenever it happened I'd copy the files to the HD and was then able to
format the disc and burn to it again. However, the problem occurred
with
increasing frequency until I binned the disc.
