Are other Windows updates supposed to show up under Help-About for IE and
OE?

You have the latest Cumulative Security Update for IE installed (889293).
It was released in Dec-04. Yes, usually OE updates are displayed in IE
HelpAboutUpdate Versions.

For Windows Updates, all "critical updates" have been installed except
for 837009 and 890175. (I was planning to install 890175 after resolving
problem with 837009, but I can go ahead and install it now if you like.)
All "recommended updates" have been installed except for EuroTool and
foreign language.

I wouldn't bother. You have some tearing down and rebuilding to do. See
below.

Is 837009 included in 889293? Are other updates included in 889293?

No and kinda/sorta. 889293 is a cumulative update for IE, therefore it
either includes the fixes in earlier IE updates or it has updated files
which supersede the earlier ones.

The above notwithstanding, in your original post you stated that you'd just
reinstalled WinME. Why? We all wish you hadn't done that.

After having upgraded to IE6 SP1 in WinME (which I am assuming you had
done), IE6 /must/ be uninstalled before reinstalling WinME or you end up
with what the WinME gang affectionately calls "version soup"
(http://snipurl.com/2bou). To make things right, you'll need to follow the
very involved fix/steps outlined on this page of MVP Noel Paton's:
http://www.btinternet.com/~winnoel/ReInIE.htm.

I am crossposting this reply to the WinME General newsgroup
(microsoft.public.windowsme.general). You will find this thread in that
newsgroup he
http://communities2.microsoft.com/co...dowsme.general
(or http://snipurl.com/2q9e). Copy/paste either of those 2 links into your
IE Addressbar and click on GO to open to that newsgroup in IE.

waves to WinME Gang Please post all further replies to the WinME General
newsgroup as they are the ones who will best be able to assist you with your
problems.

Best of luck.

I have tried multiple times to get the 873009 update to install. OE 6 SP1
is already installed. I tried repairing IE 6 SP1 & Internet Tools,
reinstalling it, and even adding OE again as a component; but the 873009
update still will not install. It does not matter whether I try to
install it manually or using Windows Update. With manually, it says "This
update requires Outlook Express
6.0 SP1 to be installed." (That makes no sense. OE6SP1 is installed.) With
Windows Update, it claims the item was successfully installed, but upon
the next reboot and check at Windows Update, 873009 is in the list again.
Any ideas what could be the problem? I reinstalled Windows Me yesterday.
No other Windows issues or update issues at this time. All other Windows
Updates have installed successfully.
