Am away for the weekend and don't have this laptop with me. It's a newly
formatted, older Compaq, and does not have any PCMCIA cards in it. However,
I'll take a look at the table you suggested...

part of W98SE. And I set it for WEP. Never was asked about encryption nor
MAC filters, so I don't think those are in...

Both suggestions worked just fine..... but what is interesting is that the
ProductID code which is in registry IS the right code from the CD.....
Yet, Windows says it is invalid and won't...

where is this stored on my installed machine? I got the networking
features all messed up when trying to install a wireless Linksys adapter, and
couldn't get the "browse" to point to the cabs on...
