I think all 4 of the ports are 2.0, but have tried them all with the same
results.

Really, the more I think about it now the more likely it seems that
something is forcing the adapter to restart...

Well, it is certainly not a problem with the speed of clicking the mouse.
As for websites, mail.yahoo.com is a good example. It usually has one of
those ads that causes the problem.
