Thanks, I will consider that nav2002 as a possible solution. yes... it is a
bit old of a system and least likely to get an infection, but I would sleep
better with an active sheild and scanner...

I ran scandisk without errors, and also did a though scan...which took a
long time. I believe there is some info in those articles about doing a
command-line scan in dos at the prompt, but...

Restart in msdos mode and run scanreg.exe/ restore. Find a date prior to the
event causing the problem. That is the restore point.
