The 3 computers are not in a domain. They are in a workgroup.

CompA, CompB, and CompC all have a common user account and password. I
actually begin to suspect that it's a virus problem. Thanks...

Consider a workgroup:
CompA - Win98
CompB - Win 2000 with shared printer
CompC - Win 2000 without printer

CompC can access the shared printer and print.
