I turned of the typical password for the screen saver when in idle mode. But
when the computer is first turned on it askes for a password which I don't
have and so just press the enter key and it boots fine.

But if I don't get to it in time the screensaver comes on and asks for
apassword. I don't know what the password is so I have to reboot.

How do I turn this passwrod off? Where is it and how can I get rid of the
logon password screen so it just boots right into windows?

Win98 keeps passwords in a file of type PWL.
So delete any files of this type and reboot.

Right-click the desktop and click on properties, screen saver tab and the
change button. Leave the two password boxes empty and click OK twice.
Click the password protected box and OK. On some systems this won't work
and a registry change is required. Open the registry editor (regedit.exe)
to this key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop In the right pane,
delete the ScreenSave_Data entry. Then right-click ScreenSaveUsePassword,
select modify and change the value to 0 (zero).

It has also been advised that you do not use the article Q135586, which has a link included in the article. Its purpose is “to clear the User Name logon box so it is blank each time you start Windows�, it is not meant to prevent the logon box from prompting you for a name/password.
Instead if you have TweakUI installed, check to make sure the “Clear Last User At Logon� check box is not checked. Go to Start Settings Control Panel, double click Tweak UI, click the Paranoia tab, if the box is checked, uncheck it.
