My Win98SE volume control slider is haunted
A strange problem that is happening occasionally on my Win98SE
laptop... The volume seems to increase by itself, without me dragging the bar on the Win98 volume control. I double click on the volume control, and I see that the slider on the left is set on maximum volume, when I had set it much lower. So I drag the slider back down...and then watch as it slowly creeps up again all by itself, as if moved by a ghost. When this is happening, I try to check the "Mute all" box and cannot. It won't accept my click. This is only happening sometimes, but often enough to be annoying. Any idea what's causing it? |

The volume can be set by any other application that understands how to do
it, and the volume applet in the tray will respond to the new setting. So some other program you are running is making the change. You need to monitor what's running when the change occurs. -- Jeff Richards MS MVP (Windows - Shell/User) wrote in message ups.com...
