Getting 1440*900 screen resolution to work
Hi All,
I am having a problem getting Win98 to work with my new monitor. It's an LCD widescreen with a resolution of 1440*900. My old Kyro-II video card didn't have this resolution, so I went and bought a new nvidia FX5200 card, but it also doesn't display this resolution in it's list of options. People suggest I upgrade to WinXP, but I don't really want the hassles of upgrading at the moment. Can Win98 use this resolution, or am I stuck with upgrading to XP? |

Windows 98 can display any resolution your monitor and video card can.

Must be doing something wrong then :( I've loaded the monitor drivers (the site did say they were for XP, and I can't find any for Win98) but the resolution doesn't appear. Usually once the monitor driver is loaded, the required resolution appears. The monitor in question is the Acer AL1916W. Any suggestions? |

I'd check to be sure your video card supports that resolution. The 5200 is
an older video card. -- Richard G. Harper [MVP Shell/User] * PLEASE post all messages and replies in the newsgroups * for the benefit of all. Did you update the drivers for the card from the nVidia Site?
