stop windows 98 from detecting unused device

Hello,

I have installed a sound card on my computer that has windows 98se. the
problem is that at startup, windows detects and tries to install multimedia
device that i donot use. i believe that this device is part of the
motherboard. is there anyway to stop windows from detecting this device?

thanks.

If the BIOS Setup program does not provide an option to disable,
then use Device Manager.

Expand the Sound, video and game controllers branch,
highlight the sound chip, and select Properties.

Under the General tab, there will be an option to disable.
