word under edit
 

I get a message when I try to open a word document the it is locked for edit
by an unknown user. Can't open temp files and my help program won't
initialize. gives me error -2147143677. can you help

Sounds like you have some registry problems - first try a

SCANREG /FIX
from Start|Run
and see if that helps
