Click start, settings, control panel, double click system

icon. In system properties select device manager tab and
make sure view devices by types is selected. Under sound
video and game controllers, verify that soundcard is
listed. If sound card is listed click start, settings,
control panel, double click multimedia. In the audio tab
verify "show volume control on the taskbar" has been
selected. In the playback and recording fields make sure
the correct soundcard is selected under preferred service.
