Can't Logon to Windows 2000 Domain

We updated our Domain to windows 2000 about six months ago.
Everything has been fine, but last Thursday, we started
getting calls that users can't log in. The only users
having the problem are users with Windows 98.All Windows
2000 and XP clients are fine. Nothing has changed on our
network or to the A.D. Any suggestions?
Thanks in Advance.

Can't Logon to Windows 2000 Domain

Hi,

Check if you have NetBIOS is installed and running.
You need to make sure the Windows 98 clients are using a NetBIOS name and
not the Fully Qualified Domain Name.

Unfortunately, Windows 98 does not understand this fully qualified name so
we had to simply use the NetBIOS name.

Try the following procedure
1. Go to Network properties
2. Under the Identification tab check the workgroup name should match with
NetBIOS name.
3. Also change the domain name to a NETBIOS name under the Client for
Microsoft
Network tab.

Once it is done you should be able to logon to the domain and also
successfully resolve the name of the server to the IP address.

I am happy to help you. Do let me know your progress on this issue.

Can't Logon to Windows 2000 Domain

Thanks Harish,
I've already tried this. I've done some research and
it looks like the SAM in our Active Directory is corrupt
causing our windows 98 clients to not log on.
Thanks anyway

Can't Logon to Windows 2000 Domain

Hey..
What exactly is the SAM? It sounds like the problem I have is what you have just described.

What is a SAM and how do I go about correcting it?
