installing me using the recovery disc
It might help us to help you, if you were to give some more details. e.g.
Make/model of pc and exactly what recovery disc(s) you are trying to use (Original Microsoft WinMe CD or OEM recovery CD(s) as provided by the computer manufacturer). If OEM, do you have the User Manual? It should give you instructions in there. In the meantime If you want to do a clean install then and it's a Microsoft (retail) CD, as a starting point, take a look at (and print out) the "cleanhd.txt" file in the win9x folder on your WinMe CD. You can also view the "Windows Millennium Edition Cleanhd.txt File Contents" at: http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;271673 Study it carefully and be sure you have a note of your 'productid' code (the 15 digit code that is supplied with your CD) and - if your WinMe CD is an 'upgrade' version (rather than a 'full version') - some proof of a 'previous version'. - e.g. a Win98 CD (N.B not required for OEM) Also, remember that ALL data will all be erased if you attempt a 'factory fresh' recovery. My advice would be to carefully read the documentation that accompanied
the recovery disk. Note that recovery disks are created by PC manufacturers not Microsoft and the operation and use of such disks varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP Windows llpaul_l_2000 wrote: |
