I/O subsystem failed to load

The following is a message I get on my computer every
time I boot up:

Error: An I/O subsytem driver failed to load. Eiuther a
file in the .\iosubsys subdirectory is corrupt or the
system is low on memory.

I can not go any furter that this, I can't even start my
computer in safe mode.

I am running windows ME.

Can some one tell me how to fix this

My little sis is having the same prob. All I can find is that you have to
replace the driver, but I'd appreciate any other suggestions as well.
