Quick Time -- How to Rid of it ????????????/

Quick Time has some how crept back into my system. I have never downloaded
it, or clicked on anything that requires it. I wish I knew how it gets on
my system.

It constantly puts itself into my startup list, and will come back in even
if I remove it from startup.

I would like to remove the program itself from my pc, but I cannot find it
anywhere.

Quick Time is not listed in Add/Remove programs. Neither is it listed
among my Programs list. A search of Quick Time doesn't show it listed
on any files on my pc.

HOW in the world can I remove this very unwanted program from this pc ??

Thanks !!

James,

Right click the QuickTime shortcut in the StartUp folder,
WINDOWS\StartMenu\Programs\StartUp, choose Properties, click the
Find Target button to determine where it's located.

QuickTime *should* be listed in Add/Remove Programs and there
*should* also be an icon in the Control Panel for it.

Did you have it installed previously and, if so, how did you
uninstall it ?
Surreptitious installations of QuickTime do not occur. You must
agree to download and install it, even as a plug-in for a browser.

It is included as part of some Adobe programs, I forget which, but I had a
problem a few years ago with that. They didn't ask permission IIRC, but I
may be wrong. It wasn't Photo Shop, so what else was there...Page Maker
maybe?

I got it along with my software for my digital camera.......ACDSee. I don't
need it or want it, but I also had a problem with it activating in
Startup.....think I will just remove the durned thing now that you remind
me.

Cheers.....Heather

If it's been installed as a "Plug-in" for some other program, it won't
be listed in the 'Add-Remove' group.

I don't think this could be a plug-in then.......it came on the ACDSee disc
with 2 photo programettes.....but the instructions were to install it first.
I don't know why on earth it is needed. I don't view videos, for instance.
Is that all it does??

Mind you, our Pentax digital camera is apparently able to take very short
videos, so that probably explains it.

Cheers......Heather

If anyone could tell me where to find it on my pc, I would attempt to delete
it. It is a terrible invasion of my pc. I hate it.

It has a still photo viewer too, totally unnecessary in ME. Most cams don't
use the .mov format either for movies, but .mpeg, so still unnecessary. I
keep it around, but just disabled the QTTASK from startup, it is just a
resource burden.
