Tweaking Shut Down Menu

None of my Win98 computers have Power Management capability, yet one
of them puts "Stand by" as a choice on the shut down menu. What causes
the difference in these menu lists? Can I modify it to remove the
"Stand by" choice?

Power Management is essentially a task scheduler -- do this when some
certain amount of time has passed after some certain event (the event being
the last input.) Doesn't remove the ability to manually stand by.

I'm next to certain that you can't get rid of the option. Is it really all
that annoying?

Not really. I was trying to understand why the Stand by option
presented itself on one of my Win98 computers and not the other two,
when none of them have the cabability (really ancient machines).

P.S. That Desktop Save utility you sent me to works great!

That's a question I may have once known the answer to, but danged if I can
remember. Can't recall ever NOT seeing the option. My guess is that it's a
function of the drivers installed to support power management. If the
machine really has no PM capability, it's strange that the option was
installed, but I'm guessing that it's a simple miscommunication during
hardware detection.

That's because you are really old. What will you ever do when you get to be
my age??? What did you say your name was again? G

What makes you think I'll ever reach your age? That's a steep hill to climb!
