BIOS Boot Sector. Disorder?
Hello,
My questions concern the CDROM of which my computer has two. In Device Manager they are listed as an Asus and an LGCombo. The former being the older installation and ordered first. In the BIOS Boot Sector I observe that the LGCombo is shown. I have done many format/installs using my OEM (hologram) WinME CD. I have used both the Asus and the LGCombo for setup purposes. On the last occasion I used the latter. 1. Is the CDROM order in Device Manager alphabetical? 2. Are the BIOS settings changed by any activity of the user other than the direct? 3. What significance has the BIOS boot selection of CDROM? 4. Is the choice of 'Auto insert notification', or not, of any relevance in terms of the BIOS CDROM selection? Thank-you. Ben. |
BIOS Boot Sector. Disorder?
Thanks, Mike.
For the post and for the e-mail. Both appreciated. Ben. "Mike M" wrote in message ... All Device Manager settings are alphabetical. Very rarely are additional drivers required to install a CD or DVD-ROM on Win Me although any CD or DVD writing application if applicable will need to be installed. The bios boot order is just that, the order in which devices are polled at boot time after which it has no significance. -- Mike Maltby Ben B seafarerathushmail.com wrote: Hello, My questions concern the CDROM of which my computer has two.
