What OS and IE version?

Normally, one can set the home page via ToolsInternet OptionsGeneral -
pick Yahoo as your home page [type in full address] then Apply.
Easiest is to go to the page you want then follow the above but pick
CurrentApply.

Uncheck the option for IE updates

Yeah, check the registry and change, also de-check Check for Updates...
however, let's put this over on microsoft.public.win98.gen_discussion as
this group is rarely used anymore..

Please reply over there and KILL the crosslink to this group when you do.

The later version(s) of OE present on first use a menu for
setting preferences (of which Home Page is one). If the
user does not complete this menu, it reappears again
indefinitely. After the user completes the (few) settings,
the first use menu (with MS as the Home Page) no
longer reappears.
