Internet explorer display problem
 

Here is a problem I get sometimes on normal websites, like yahoo.com or
cnn.com:

Each time I click on properties it reads:
res://C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SHDOCLC.DLL
I looked in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM. The SHDOCLC.DLL file is present.

This shows up where advertisements are are suppose to show a picture or
animation in a web page.

Any ideas?

It sounds as if you have something blocking the pages. Please provide a
list of any anti-virus, spyware, adware, malware, firewall programs you may
be running. Also, are you using the HOSTS file to block unwanted ads? If
this is something that has recently manifested itself, think about anything
you may have added or changed in that period.

Running Superantispyware in the background and it runs a daily scan @05:00
every day. CCleaner & RegistryMedic are also installed.

Not familiar with Superantispyware. Did you just install this recently? I
don't think CCleaner or the RegMedic would be the culprit. Try disabling
the Superantispyware when you run across a site you can't load and see if it
makes a difference.
Maybe one of the gurus will be along shortly and shed more light on this
issue......

I can't say for sure but I wouldn't expect it to be SuperAntiSpyware causing
the problem. I run that myself although that's on XP but it is the Pro
version so is protecting in real time but I only do a scan once a week not
every day.
I have the free version on a WinME machine and have never had any problems.
Have you tried asking over at their forum to see if it is SuperAntiSpyware
causing the problem, if it is they will have a fix I'm sure as the support
is very good, and of course if it's not the problem something else on your
machine is playing up g

It very likely isn't 'SUPERAntiSpyware'.
I have this situation once in a while, but noticed that it is caused by
clicking the mouse button too quickly. If you tried it again, as suggested,
only a bit slower, will it work then? Let us know, please.

Nick....tried to change this around (we TOP post in the MS news groups,
btw).....but I had meant to say I have Super AntiSpyware on here (XP)
and it certainly does NOT cause any problems.

I am highly suspicious that it is either CCleaner or the Registry one.
I found CCleaner to be quite intrusive and I didn't trust it. As to
interfering with web browsing, can't speak to that, but I wouldn't be
surprised if one of the above two didn't cause the problem. Or the OP
messing in the Registry. (G)

Okay, so we have ruled out SuperAntispyware and I can tell you I have never
had any problems with CCleaner. I guess it could be a Reg issue, not sure.
How about sending some of the URL's you can't open, so, we can try. Are all
of these pages that you have been able to access before??

Well, it is certainly not a problem with the speed of clicking the mouse.
As for websites, mail.yahoo.com is a good example. It usually has one of
those ads that causes the problem.
