remove viruses/worms/adware/other junk from computer
I have a computer (the same one from my other question that I'm trying to get
files off of) that will barely run right now. I'm sure it's because there is so much junk from things like viruses and worms and adware and I don't know what else on it. Right now, it won't start up properly in normal mode, and I can occasionally (maybe once out of every three times I try) get it to start up and run right for a while in safe mode before it locks up. I want to get rid of all the junk that's making the computer run so slowly, but I'm not an expert and can't tell what is and isn't supposed to be on the computer. What would you suggest that I try in order to get rid of all the junk and get the computer at least semi-working again? (if it's a program, it would have to be able to run in safe mode) |

Run msconfig.exe and on the start up tab, disable nearly everything but the
power profiles and your anti virus program entries. Reboot and maybe this will allow you to get it running long enough that you can extract the files that you need. -- Regards Ron Badour, MS MVP for W98 Tips: http://home.satx.rr.com/badour Knowledge Base Info: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?pr=kbinfo "bookworm656" wrote in message ...
