Cannot upgrade FAT32 to DriveSpace 3 drives.

I have a FAT32 drive on Windows 98 but need to know how to repartition it.
When I format it, it says files are in use by Windows.

What do I need to do???

You can't format a partition that is being used by Windows.

What you need to do depends on what you are trying to achieve.

If you are trying to re-partition the drive to FAT16 then you need to boot
to floppy and run FDISK, remove all existing partitions, and start over with
the partitioning and formatting you want. This will, of course, delete all
the data on the drive.

If you are trying to make more space available for storage of files then you
should buy a bigger drive, or install a second drive.

Try Partition Magic or BootITNG. I have used PM to resize and add
partitions in 95, 98 & 2000pro many times. BootITNG costs a bit less
and does more but I do not have personal experience with it as yet.

Their newsgroup at terabyteunlimited.com can provide information about it.

As always make sure you have a good backup before beginning.

James
