Mount samba share - but cannot use DNS
Hi,
we have still some windows 98 clients. We mount some samba shares (from linux server) on them. The problem is that we cannot mount the share using its DNS name but have to use IP address. It doesn't work if we use DNS name. Does anybody know why ? |
Mount samba share - but cannot use DNS
I'm reposting your question to the most-widely-used windows-98 newsgroup
(gen_discussion). I also advise you to ask your question in the win-9x forum on msfn.org. przemol wrote (on Jan. 25): Hi, we have still some windows 98 clients. Does anybody know why ? Try editing the hosts file on the win-98 machines so that they know how to map a host-name to an IP address without querying a DNS server. Your win-98 machines are probably not using a DNS server that is aware of your linux machines. |
