1. Next time the error happens press Alt+D while the error message is
still on the screen. That will bring up the Detailed Error Message
which has more explicit information about the error. Copy the first
part of the Detailed Error Message, up to the word Registers:, and
post that information back here. You could also check with MVP Jim
Eshelman's kernel32 errors page at
http://aumha.org/win4/a/kernel32.htm

2. Have you tried booting the computer into Safe Mode? To start
Windows Me in Safe Mode turn on the computer and press the Ctrl key
just as soon as the first information of any kind shows on the screen.
Hold it down until the Windows Statup Menu appears and choose Safe
Mode from the menu.

In Safe Mode you could try using System Restore (in Accessories -
System Tools) to set the machine back to a point prior to the onset of
this problem.

And if the same error happens when you try to boot into Safe Mode then
that indicates that the problem is most likely hardware related.

Post the results back here if you need further advice or assistance.

Good luck
