ScanDisk in Safe Mode
Hi Group!
Having a problem running ScanDisk in Safe Mode for the past few times. Copy & paste of last log info (same error message as the other times): ******************* Microsoft ScanDisk for Windows NOTE: If you use an MS-DOS program to view this file, some of the characters may appear incorrectly. Use a Windows program such as Notepad instead. Log file generated at 21:11 on 3/29/2010. ScanDisk used the following options: Thorough test Check dates and times Automatically fix errors Drive Local Disk (C:) contained the following errors: Restarted 10 times because another program wrote to this disk. ScanDisk was canceled. ------------------- Any ideas why this would happen in SAFE MODE??? SGB |

Obviously nothing should be writing to disc in SM. Give it the three finger
salute and see if you can shut off anything that's running. You can also run scandisc in DOS. -- I mastered Wordstar graphics! "SGB" wrote: Hi Group! Well you can - as Corday intimated - find out what is running. Or you can
just get ScanDefrag, that was written for precisely this issue and is still available from Blue Orb Software and Bill Blanton's sites and still supports Win Me (it would be a bit weird if it didn't, of course). Google 'ScanDefrag', download it and use that. Shane SGB wrote: Hi Group! Having a problem running ScanDisk in Safe Mode for the past few times. Hello:
I also found ScanDefrag to be a much better approach to running ScanDisk and Defragmenter than running them under Safe Mode. See http://www.blueorbsoft.com/scandefrag/ .
