Am trying to re-load win98 but am getting not enough memory
This is imppossible since I show plenty of unused memory on my har drive. I also disablefed my virus protection with same result. |

This could be one of several things, such as trying to use a cluster size that is incompatible with a large hard drive, where you end up with an unmanageable number of clusters. Or it could be a vcache issue, or........ But it all depends on what, when, where, why, how. Et cetera..... |
"not enough memory" messages have nothing to do with drive space. they refer
to RAM, If you are trying to reload windows to cure some viral/spyware/system crash it is possible that the dirty little bugger is still present and is wasting memory. Use control-alt-delete to check what's running. If the virus is in memory
KILL the process. ~Q |
Uh? If it really is a not enough memory message, then the most likely cause
is insufficient drive space for the swap file. Windows does not usually report out of memory just because there isn't enough RAM. -- Jeff Richards MS MVP (Windows - Shell/User) "AlmostBob" wrote in message ... Most messages about not enough memory aren't actually about not enough
memory at all. What is the exact (verbatim) message that you are getting, and exactly what are you doing when it appears. Why did you re-install Windows, and are you sure you have fixed whatever problem made it necessary? -- Jeff Richards MS MVP (Windows - Shell/User) "rom553" wrote in message ...
