Win98SE Shutdown Probs

Hi

I have been having Win98SE shutdown problems since installing it. I use an
older computer (P150MMX w/32 MB's Ram). My problem is that sometimes the
computer hangs at the "Windows is shutting down" screen. If I reboot the
computer and immediately shut it down, there are no problems. But if I have
used the computer (i.e. surfing, maintenence) it hangs every time. I have
applied the update patch, checked for "Load" and "Run" in win.ini, disabled
fast shutdown (before patch), disabled PCI steering, and checked my power
management features. Nothing has worked. Please see below for my bootlog
and if you have any ideas, please post them.

Thank you

snip
Terminate = User
Terminate = Query Drivers
EndTerminate = Query Drivers
Terminate = Unload Network
EndTerminate = Unload Network
Terminate = Reset Display
EndTerminate = Reset Display
EndTerminate = User

** That's the last entry. My understanding is that it should end with
kernel?

If I were you I would just go Start = Shut Down =
restart in MS DOS Mode, allow the computer to go into DOS
mode and then switch it of manually.

Here is mine. You are missing more than you think. You do know you must
do a Logged Boot each time you want to look at one, or you always will
be looking at the same one? Perhaps spend time at...
http://www.aumha.org/a/shtdwnse.php Shutdown problems, SE specific.
http://www.aumha.org/a/shutdown.htm Shutdown problems.
....as Eric suggested.

Terminate = User
Terminate = Query Drivers
EndTerminate = Query Drivers
Terminate = Unload Network
EndTerminate = Unload Network
Terminate = Reset Display
EndTerminate = Reset Display
EndTerminate = User
Terminate = KERNEL
Terminate = RIT
EndTerminate = RIT
Terminate = Win32
EndTerminate = Win32
EndTerminate = KERNEL

Thanks or Good Luck,
There may be humor in this post, and,
Naturally, you will not sue,
should things get worse after this,

I'm glad you posted this query because I was ready to begin
a new thread on this very subject!

I have a power switch at desk level, so my habit is to shut
down in "restart" mode - switching off the power when the
computer goes to sleep. For the past couple of weeks, my
computer has hung up at "entering sleep mode" and I have to
soft boot to get it to move on.

It occured to me that this behavior began shortly after we
converted to cable & router. I wonder if that's a factor,
of just a coincidence?

I've also had a problem with Eudora for the past few days.
I get a pop up window saying something is covering up their
ad... but the ad is nowhere to be found. I've had this
problem in the past, which I solved by upgrading.... but I
don't need or want an upgrade and would rather not do it.
I've already posted the problem on a Eudora ng, but didn't
get even a minor response, so I reported it as a bug
tonight.
