I have Windows 98 On Floppys
"Dannypritchett01" wrote in message ups.com... I see so many people looking for Windows 98 on Floppys. I managed to get my hands on a set a long time ago and I used winimage to make a image file of each disk in case they ever got corrupted. It took me forever to find a set, snip and i bet it takes forever to install win98 from floppies i know i've installed win95 from a set of 29 floppies and it takes a long time! |

Yes, but when you simply don't have a CD drive...

I don't want the floppies, I want the images. I'll burn them to CD and keep
them for posterity's sake. I've got a ton of old machines piling up in my spare bedroom, and one of these days I might even put a few together. I can envision trying a few things where a CD install isn't feasible. Of course, I do believe it's in contravention of the WIn98 licensing agreement to be sharing these things around, g. -- Gary S. I find it easiest , when doing large data transfers on a non-networked machine.. to simply pull the HD out and slave it into the host machine. even if it's a laptop...I have a HD adaptor that only cost less than 10 bucks! Most of my machines have several removable drive kits... so the whole operation takes just a few minutes... When fixing up machines that I find discarded... It would sure be nice if the people tossing them out would also include the media and the license too :) |

Yup! Fortunately, I've got a box full of old OS disks that don't have any machine attached anymore, wither, g. Of course, I'll *never* get around to doing any of this, unless I happen across a kid or two who's really interested in learning how it was done in the "old days". Wife will probably make me toss them long before then. -- Gary S. Terhune MS MVP -- Shell/User "philo" wrote in message ... When fixing up machines that I find discarded... So I'm often running up and down a lot of stairs when I working on one of my projects! Nothing around here goes to waste though... last year someone even insisted on paying me for a 486 I had. The guy wrote his own software many years ago and when he got a new machine...the cpu was too fast... and the stuff was written such a long time ago he said he had no idea how to re-write it for a faster cpu... He was really happy when I still had a few 486's left here :) |

I've got a couple of those, and a couple of older machines that CRS is
causing me to forget the names of at this moment. -- Gary S. Terhune MS MVP -- Shell/User "philo" wrote in message ... "Gary S. Terhune" wrote in message ... Yup!
