Internet Connection Starting Automatically
I am running W98SE. When I start up windows my internet dial up
connection starts automatically. I have gone to Start Control Panel Internet Options Connections and 'Dial Whenever A Network Connection Is Not Present' is set. My understanding of this option is that the connection will not start until Internet Explorer or Netscape is started. Can anyone tell me why this is happening. Thanks for any and all help. |
Internet Connection Starting Automatically
Your understanding is wrong. Pay real close attention to these words you typed:
'Dial Whenever A Network Connection Is Not Present' ^ ^ ^ ^ In straight forward words: A modem is not connected until you ask it to connect by activating IE, OE, Netscape or any other such app. With your setting and no connection at boot, it will dial to attempt a connection. -- Brian A.
