Passwords properties

In the Control panel,(passwords) I try to change the WindowsnPW. It asks for
the old PW, which I don't remember after 5 years and I'm going away for a few
days and like to create a Password. How can find out if i ever entered a
password and if so, what is my old Password. Would appreciate if somebody
could help.

The WinMe password is not very secure, using 'Cancel' instead of a password
will allow anyone to access your computer anyway!!

See the following article to reset your password :-

"How to Prevent a Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows Me Logon Prompt at
Startup"
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;152104

When it comes to setting up again, then if you no longer want a password,
enter a name but DO NOT enter any password at all, then click OK. DO NOT
"cancel".

However, as WinMe does not have a very secure password system, if you want
something a bit more secure without setting your BIOS password, check-out
Doug Knox's "Secure Your Computer" free utility at the following URL:-
http://www.dougknox.com/security/validated.htm

WARNING!! Be sure to read his recommendation!!

HTH and good luck

Mart
