help with upgrading to windows xp...
i cant run the windows xp setup from the CD in windows. it says "setup.exe has performed an elligal opperation"
when booting from the CD, i get all the way past the licence agreement and then it tells me that it does not detect any previous version of windows on my PC. i already have windows 98 and im using the winxp upgrade version. it says that it supports win98 AND win98(se). can i solve this problem? is there a way to get the CD replaced? i bought it at bestbuy so it is not pirated. thanks if you can help. please help! |

You should ask this question in one of the Windows XP newsgroup(s). My =
guess is that something is amiss in the Windows 98 installation such = that it is not correctly reporting the information XP Setup expects to = find. You should include in your enquiry what make/model machine you have, = whether you have the original Windows setup installation files, what = kind of CD they are on, etc. --=20 Gary S.
