MSCONFIG

When I click start, run, msconfig and OK the config
utility flashes momentarily but no access. When I go to
Windows system folder I find the msconfig.exe file but
that location will not open same as with the run command.
I also cannot access System Information from system
tools. I have run scandisk, defrag, uninstalled all virus
scan, firewall and utilities from the machine. The
taskbar is clean. Need a suggestion or hint.
Thanks,
Diane
