CD Rom not working
I am continuing this thread from "problems with *my
computer*, IE, etc."...got tired of clicking all those x's. Still cannot use my CD-Rom. Can we start over? I took care of all the other virus stuff (i hope) so i'd like to focus on just this. CDrom tray works, light goes on for a couple of seconds and thats it. There is no "D" drive listed in *my computer*. Device manager shows it, says it is working properly. Settings doesn't show a current drive letter assignment, but is under reserve letter settings. Under drivers it says no drivers are required or have been loaded. If i try to install one it says that the best driver is all ready installed C:\WINDOWS\INF\MSCDROM.INF. CDROM stopped working about the time a got a virus(s) but don't know if that is a coincidence. I did get the drive listed in *my comp* at one point while doing the virus thing but lost it again. (don't know what i did) Can't install tweakui, it wants to be run from the control panel and I can't do it. If it probably won't work anyway.... I appreciate all your help. For the sympathy vote, my DVD player also stopped working as well as the nintendo game cube (31 days old- guess what the store warrenty is?), and now ps1 is acting funny. I think the virus infected my whole house. |
