Rebooting In Safe Mode
Hello,
Using msconfig.exe I can force a boot menu on startup. I wanting to know what is modified to force this. Is there a file or reg key that is set to force the boot menu? If so, what is it? Thank You, Jason Williard |
You can edit the Msdos.sys file in the root directory using notepad.
You may have to change the attributes of the file before editing. Here are the steps: 1. Change defaults to see all files by opening windows explorer then selecting View from menu then select folder options --Then View. Check show all files. Select OK. 2. Find msdos.sys in the root directory and right click on the file. Uncheck hidden and read only 3 Double click on MSdos.sys to open the file (or right click and select open). Use notepad 4. Add the following lines to the end of the file: BootMenu=1 BootMenuDelay=3 You can adjust the delay. That sets the time the menu is displayed prior to the default being automatically select. Save the revised file 4. Restore the the hidden and read only attributes. -- Jon Hildrum DTS MVP www.hildrum.com "Jason Williard" wrote in message ...
