Anyone know why 'nntp.aioe.org' doesn't update anymore?
Or is something wrong with my particular situation?

It hasn't been working for me either, and I've not been able to

The person who runs AIOE has posted about the problem with their
newsserver in alt.free.newsservers. There are several threads there
about it. Try looking at the thread that starts with message id
on 12/15/08. By the way, if you haven't been
there before, note that a.f.newsservers is a pretty junked-up group, so
try not to drown in the muck!

The aioe server died, and the owner reckons he is trying to buy a new one
etc.
(He states that he is located a few hundred KMs from the site as well ?)

I use Motzarella for a free news server and it works just fine. Even
has a "new user" news group.

Go to www.motzarella.org and check it out. I have used it for a couple
of years, I think and they are quite good.
