media player will not install
 

I have windows 98 and when I downloaded the media player 7.1 and tried to
install it it said unable to find updates regardless of which options I
chose for installation I recently had to restore my registry to a time
before I ever downloaded the media player originally.
It worked when I first downloaded and installed so why not now.
