Re-installing win98 upgarde version - Give me a break!!!
Initially, there was not much of an inconvenience when installing win98 over
dos 5 or win 31. However, for compatibility issues, I still use win 98, just not on a old 386! New computers don't have 3.5 disk drive and certainly not 5.25. I can't install win 98 without showing proof I deserve it. Never mind the money spent so far and the fact it's no longer supported... Is there a way around this that Microsoft would approve? How about giving their loyal, albeit slightly disgruntle, customers a break? To make maters worse, I am trying to do tis on Virtual PC. dear god. |

You choices include, but may not be limited to: Obtain CD based media of a qualifying prior OS from a seller on E-Bay or a similar auction/reseller site. Obtain a full version of Windows 98 (probably should get SE while you are at it) from a similar source Temporarily install a floppy drive on the computer so it can read the qualifying prior OS media. |
