My free AVG is being discontinued, can anyone recommend a
good free one?

Just upgrade to version 7, it's free as well.

AVG7 is a total pain and is incompatible with Mailwasher.
The problem is that AVG7 wants to log on to the pop3 email server and
check emails on the server and I can't see any way of disabling this.
So I've dumped AVG7 and I now use AntiVir Personal Edition

I use MW with AVG without a problem. The "trick" I have found is to simply
disable Bouncing in MW's config.

AVG have produced an updated new one ... download it. It
is better than the previous version and the free download
is still available to single users!!
