Network connection slow...?
Hi all, I've recently been working on an old ME machine, works fine.
However when the computer first loadds up and logs into the user, if I try loading up internet explorer it tells me that page is not available. It's connected to a network via ethernet. The same problem happens in Outlook express BUT if I leave it for about two mins it then works! - Very fast and normal. I thought it might be the client's DHCP server taking a long time to get an ipaddress, but if as soon as it loads up it already has a dynamically assigned ip address. (cmdipconfig) My only thought is that the components to control TCP/IP are not loaded? and then 30seconds or a minute later it works. All in all it takes about 3 mins before i can start using the internet. Not a major problem, i just wondered if it's possible to change the startup order of windows services... ? TIA Dan Walters |
