Exec Error Message

After disconnecting from my ISP, I frequently get an Exec
error message box, which reads- Exec
! Exec has caused an error
in User.Exec. Exec will now close Close
If you continue to experience problems, try restarting
your computer.

However, when I get this error message, I cannot close the
message box, and my computer will not respond at all. The
only way I can even shut down the computer is to push the
power button on the computer. Please help?

This almost certainly a spyware issue although I could be wrong. If you
don't have a spyware removal program, you can download a free program,
Ad-Aware at www.lavasoftusa.com. After you install the program, first click
on Check for Updates, then scan your system and remove any spyware it
detects. You will find it useful to right click on any of the check boxes
on the results screen and choose Select All Objects so that you don't have
to put checks in all the boxes. Hit next or finish to remove your spyware
and repeat the scan over and over until a scan produces zero results. If
you find that there are a stubborn few that won't remove, then post a notice
at www.lavasoftsupport.com and someone will gladly help you remove them.
Also, be sure and click on Check For Updates each new day that
you scan as updates are posted very often and if you don't, you will not be
able to remove newlly discovered spyware.

You should also delete your Temporary Internet Files. To do this, in
Internet Explorer, click on Tools, Internet Options, Delete Files. And you
want to delete your Windows temporary files. To do this, you need to first
make sure My Computer is set to show hidden files and folders. Click on
Tools, Folder Options, View, and put a check by Show Hidden Files and
Folders. Hit OK and close. Then browse to c:\windows\documents and
settings\username\local settings, temp and then delete all files. You
should do this immediately after booting up as otherwise you will likely get
errors. After deleting these files, immediately empty your recycle bin.

Good Luck
