Lost Key Code!
Help! I'm reinstalling the full version Win 98 and I lost
my keycode. I looked all over the Microsoft webpage for help, but can't find it. Is there a way to get a key code from Microsoft? Do I have to pay $35 to email them the question? Will I get an answer? Help! |
If Win98 is still running, get it from the Registry with Regedit.exe
The key is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion The value is ProductKey ....Alan -- Alan Edwards, MS MVP W95/98 Systems http://dts-l.org/index.html In microsoft.public.win98.setup, "Jan" wrote: Help! You may try Microsoft at: 1 800 642-7676 You will need your original CD to verify that you have a legal product. -- Jon Hildrum DTS MVP www.hildrum.com "Jan" wrote in message ... Help! Jan,
It's a rip-off. My original keycode went suddenly invalid, so I got a new one from Microsoft. It is now invalid also. Microsoft is trying to force us to upgrade to XP. Maybe we can all share the Win98SE keycode if someone gets one that works. -----Original Message----- Help! I'm reinstalling the full version Win 98 and I lost my keycode. The key code does not go invalid. Some common problems:
1. Using the cap lock key 2. Mistyping letters for numbers like o instead of 0. 3. Trying to use a key code for the oem version on the retail version or vice versa. 4. Trying to use the product id instead of the product code. -- Jon Hildrum DTS MVP www.hildrum.com wrote in message ... Jan, It's a rip-off.
