There is *lots* of hardware that is compatible with Windows 98.
However
much of the newer hardware that is available now may not work at all
under Windows 98. Any hardware over 5 or 6 years old has a better
chance
of working.

Thank you for replying. I assumed it was obvious that I meant currently
available hardware. I plan to persue my goal using the currently available
hardware. I would not be adverse to buying hardware that is outdated but in
new condition.
Thanks

Look he

http://www.msfn.org/board/Modern_mot..._9_t97588.html

Read the entire thread.

I personally recommend this board:

http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.as...4COREDUAL-VSTA

It has both AGP and PCI-e slots, can take DDR-2 and DDR memory, and
supports socket 775 Core/Core-2/Quad-core CPU's (although the most
practical Intel CPU for running win-98 is probably the 3.6 ghz
celeron).

I would safe if I could find a page on the asrock site where is says that
this mother board is compatiable with WIN98. So far I haven't been able to
find such a page. Is there such a page? If so can you give a link to it?

No, there is no such page.

No (new) motherboard sold today, or for the past 2 years at least,
will claim to be compatible with Windows 98.

If you read the msfn thread, you would see that there is win-98 driver
support for several chipsets that are used in new motherboards.

There is one motherboard component that I haven't ever seen win-98
driver support for - and that's the HD audio component that started to
appear on motherboards 2 or 3 years ago.

So you can fart around and try to find an old legacy motherboard
(either used, or new-in-box) that dates from 2003, or you can take a
chance on one of the boards mentioned in that thread.
