If you have recently installed a new hard drive, the drive may exceed the maximum size that your motherboard is compatible with. Or, if the drive is larger than 128 gb, then Windows 98 will not be compatible with the drive. If you are installing (re-installing) windows 98 on an old hard drive, the drive may have bad sectors and is causing file read/write problems. You need to state more about the hardware details of the computer you're trying to install win-98 on, such as if this computer has had win-98 installed on it before, and if any components have been changed. |
