can not print to network printer
 

after upgrading the computer connected to the printer with
windows xp sp2 I can no longer print from the computer
with ME installed. Worked before upgrade. Other computer
with xp sp2 on the network still prints ok. only the ME
machine doesn't

Can the Win Me PC still access files and folders on the PC hosting the
printer?

yes can still access files on the XP computers, even
instal programs from the XP to the ME computer

Very odd especially if you could print from Win Me to the PC running XP
prior to installing SP2. SP2 will have enabled the XP firewall unless you
are using certain recent version third party firewalls (such as Zone Alarm
v5.1 or later) but since you say the Win Me PC can access files on the XP
machine this wouldn't seem to be the cause. Just one last idea. Does the
XP PC have an older third party firewall and perhaps have both the third
party firewall and the XP firewall enabled? If so this could possibly be
the cause of the problem as having two firewalls running on the same PC
can cause many unusual problems and I would recommend disabling one of the
firewalls (but NOT both).

Firewall is probably preventing you from printing.
