Remote INTO Win98/W2k?
I have RDP installed on my XP machines and I am not able to remote into my
Win98 and W2k machines. My Win98 and W2k machines **DO** remote to my XP machines with no problems at all. Everything I've seen only talks about installing the RDP manually, which I had to do of course, since it's not part of the OS. There is nothing to configure like there is in XP (Firewall, exception, remote tab when you right click 'my computer', etc. Is what I'm trying to do possible? |

You can use Remote Desktop Protocol to connect *TO* a WinXP Pro machine FROM another
XP system; or FROM a Win95/98/ME/NT4/2K computer, if the Remote Desktop Connection software is installed on those systems. You cannot use RDP to connect FROM a WinXP Pro system except to another WinXP Pro system, or to Vista, or to Windows Home Server (and therefore probably to Server 2003). -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP Shell/User, A+ "Glen" wrote in message ... All versions of Server 2003 have RD, AFAIK. There's also the related
Terminal Services. (I'm probably wrong, but it's my impression that RD is just a specific set of configurations and interface for Terminal Services.) -- Gary S. You require a third-party solution. RealVNC is one that still supports the
legacy Windows OSes. http://www.realvnc.com/ -- Gary S. Terhune MS-MVP Shell/User www.grystmill.com "Glen" wrote in message ... Thank you; I had an eery feeling of this...
